But how does it work?

Smart Lipo is a minor laser lipolysis procedure, for body contouring which uses a fine cannula to deliver a safe, powerful laser to heat the fat cells,
causing them to break down. The fat deposits are simply absorbed and pass out of the body, naturally. At the same time, the laser seals off minor blood vessels and stimulates collagen production to give a smooth, sculptured finish.

As Smart Lipo is performed under a local anaesthetic, most people are fit to leave within 30 mins of completion of the procedure.

Meet Dr. Anil K. Gandhi

Dr. Anil K. Gandhi, Medical Director of Wildwood Surgical Group, has been practicing general surgery for over 30 years.  A graduate of the University of Bombay, in India, he began his residency in the United States in 1971, where later, he would become the Medical Director for five clinics in the Hispanic community. 

Now, dedicating his knowledge to Cosmetic Surgery, he has implemented a unique surgical technique for safer, more affordable cosmetic surgery. For all of his cosmetic surgeries, he uses tumescent (local) anesthesia.  Using this technique, the patient is awake and can see and participate in the final outcome of his/her surgery. His patients walk out of the office twenty minutes after completion of their aesthetic surgery and without the side effects of general anesthesia, whether it be a breast augmentation or a liposuction.

The tumescent technique was developed in 1985.  This technique uses large volumes of a dilute solution of lidocaine, a local anesthetic, in combination with the vasoconstrictive drug epinephrine, which shrinks capillaries.  Local anesthesia used in the tumescent technique for liposuction and other surgeries, is so effective that patients no longer need intravenous sedatives, narcotic analgesics, nor general anesthesia.  This technique is now considered the safest form of many cosmetic surgeries since there is no blood loss. Not only has the tumescent technique proven to be safer than the standard technique using general anesthesia, but it also has proven to be less painful, has minimized post operative recovery time, and has produced optimal cosmetic results. 

With the tumescent technique infiltrating the local anesthesia is associated with minimal discomfort.  Once the area has been completely numbed, surgery in the area is essentially painless.  In addition, because the local anesthesia persists in the treated area for more than 12 hours, there is no pain immediately after the surgery. Eliminating general or intravenous anesthesia has made cosmetic procedures safer and easier for the patient as the after-effects of anesthesia are also eliminated.

The surgical fees are typically lower than those done under general anesthesia, as there are no anesthesia fees. Also, this method also results in markedly reduced or no bleeding. Dr. Anil K.Gandhi, has performed many successful surgeries using this method, and is one of the few physicians in the country who offers cosmetic surgery with this technique.  It is so rare, that many physicians all over the United States are now visiting Dr. Anil K. Gandhi’s facility in Cerritos, California, to receive first hand training for this unique method.
